As an inmigrant, would you recommend to quit your job, leave everything behind and move to London, Would it hard to get a well paid job ? (30K) with a finance background?

How much would you need per month to "survive" while settling down? I'm considering 1,200 pounds minimun, is that reasonable?

I've saved, I have money to survive, but probably will run out of funds in few months if I don't find a suitable job...
I want to move there to improve my standard of living, to have better quality of life and because I have the legal right to work there

No. If you have permission to work in the UK, then why put yourself through all the stress of moving without a job into one of the most expensive cities in the world? Why not apply for jobs from abroad if you have permission to work? Of course, double check that you actually do have permission to work permanently, full time in the UK - if not, most employers will not be interested.

Your estimate on what you need to "survive" is a bit high; the campaign for a living wage puts their lower limit at £7.05/hr, or under £1100 per month, or around £13,000 per year, and this is before tax. I survived fine in a cheap bedsit when on £16,500.

You should work on your spelling and grammar if you want to land a job: "inmigrant" should be "immigrant", "minimun" should be "minimum", and your punctuation is shot to hell. Seriously, any employer reading text like that will put the application straight into the shredder.

London is a brilliant place, and to all those who suggest it's horrible, take a look at any big city...

Although you would need a lot more money, at least if you're looking to live in central. And about a job, i'd recommend you get yourself at least some promising interviews, maybe ones you can do over the phone before you make the move. Then at least there's something waiting for you.

If you can't do well on money i'd recommend moving to the outskirts of london, commuting, then moving further in if you get the finances! Although living outside is a bit nicer, and much cheaper!

London is a tough place but if you can make it there, you can certainly make it anywhere as long as you can deal with lonliness.

You will need more money at first to set up but you can survive on 1200 a month but it depends if you are willing to share with other people at first - if you want to rent on your own then it is very very expensive but the best thing is not to live too centrally and commute to work. And of course try to secure at least some job interviews so you know you are likely to get work.

I did it and I would recommend it provided that you have your head screwed on properly. Teaching jobs aren't hard to come by and the pay is good. Go for it, it will be quite an experience.

I think it will take 1,331 pounds p/month if you want to stay under the poverty level. You should atlest earn 3,500 pounds to live ok.

Good Luck though

Don't do it, you'll regret it. London is very expensive. If you are looking to move just for getting a new job, America is the place, stay here.

However, if you must, how does Italy or Australia sound?
