take out the y

y(2x-4) = -3x-1

y= (-3x-1) / (2x-4)

2xy - 4y = -3x - 1

*factor out multiple y on left side*

y(2x - 4) = -3x - 1

*divide by (2x - 4) on both sides to get y alone*

y = (-3x - 1) / (2x - 4)

2xy-4y = -3x-1
(2x-4)y = -3x-1
y = (-3x-1) /(2x-4)

2y ( x - 2) = - 3x - 1
2y = ( -3x-1)/(x-2)
y = (-3x-1) / 2(x-2)
