You can use your time machine to go back in time and change only one the following:

1) Prevent Elvis' health problems and eventual death, meaning he is still making albums and performing live to this day.

OR...

2) The Beatles never broke up, meaning they kept making albums and touring, which also meant John Lennon never died. And right now, The Fab Four are working on their 30th album.

Which would you choose?

Number 2, because John was murdered!!!! Elvis just sort of overdosed...
I have to add that the Beatles broke up before John died, so I don't believe they would still be together..I liked what another person said on here, Elvis never wrote anything..He was a good singer, no doubt, but a real artist can write their own music also..

The Beatles definately! the two the Beatles and Elvis brought about mass hysteria, however the Beatles have been so lots greater groundbreaking for their time. i think of with John Lennon being murdered, the Beatles attained greater interest and achievement. Elvis substitute into (hate to assert it through fact i'm from Memphis) form of skanky and the Beatles have been resourceful! i will nonetheless pay attention a Beatles music and sense like i'm in yet another international, yet when I pay attention Elvis, all i will think of of is a bloated, entertainment healthful donning has-been who's fairly out of his strategies. Sorry, Elvis, however the Beatles RULE!

I would change Elvis. He would eventually become a fixture at one venue (ex: Disney World: Magic Kingdom). He was heading downward anyways. I would not change the Beatles' history. They broke up when they were on top of the music world, and then had success in solo careers. You could compare them with Michael Jordan retiring after hitting the game and championship-winning shot in 1998. That fact only adds to the legacy left by the Beatles. Another question along the same line. When Bon Scott died, AC/DC replaced him and continued to be big. When John Bonham died, Zeppelin called it quits. Who do we hold in higher esteem today, Led Zeppelin or AC/DC? Led Zeppelin.

For myself ? Elvis. I have a soft spot. I love Elvis. My dad used to sing his songs to me. I would have LOVED to see him in concert.

If I were choosing for the benefit of humanity though, I'd go for The Beatles. While I'm not the biggest fan in the world, I have to say they probably made the largest impact that any on popular music that any single band has made in the last 50 years. They've influenced countless musicians, who influenced countless other musicians. They covered a number of genres & styles and probably even invented some. As an added bonus, if The Beatles were still together, Paul might not have married that gold digging b*tch.
