does it have anything to do with the sun or are people not tanning because of the temp.?

I would say wait a little while longer before tanning outside. It is still considered winter so we are the farthest away from the sun. I would say in March you should start. I would probable try a new self tanner, or the new lotions fromJergens that builds a tan slowly over the next week. Then you will have a little color and then can make the "most" of your time in the sun, when the rays are a little stronger!

Why are you opposed to going to a tanning salon? Before I went to Hawaii this winter I built up my base tan at a tanning salon for the very same reason (I didn't want to burn when I got to Hawaii, but it's winter, so I can't tan naturally). Fake-baking isn't a bad alternative, especially if you're just building a base.

Why do you care so much about the tone of your skin? Wouldnt you rather be slightly pale now and beautifully young looking and cancer free when you get older? No one else cares about that color of your skin and if they do then they don't matter! Love youself!
