No, cories are very intolerant of salt. Use it only in temporary situations, like treating disease, that's it.

For those who think cories do fine with some salt, please consider this. Cories are a south american, mainly form the amazon basin. The Amazon's waters have a salt content less than 0.00000001. To put that into a perspective, a low-end brackishwater environment has a salt content of 0.008. The the Amazon river has a salt content more then TEN THOUSAND TIMES less than low end brackishwater. Most tap water has a salt content of about 0.001, so please, don't add salt.

Cory's, gentle epidermis catfish, and many plants do not continuously do properly with the addition of salt. usually that is a foul idea to apply better than about 1Tbsp per 10 gallons once you've those on your tank. different tropical fish are superb with about 1Tbsp per 5 gallons.

In general catfish don't do well with high levels of salt. (Catfish have been freshwater fish for a very long time.) Honestly a small amount of salt doesn't make a big difference one way or another. Aquarium salt is just a scam to make you shell out money for it.

Oh please people.... Corys can do just fine in a typical amount of salt added to a freshwater tank. The are somewhat sensitive so keep it on the low side, but you don't have to completely avoid salt at all. For general keeping that is breeding is another matter completely.

They can NOT live in a saltwater tank. A SMALL amount of salt can be good for some freshwater fish. Don't put it in until you Exactly how much per gallon is appropriate. And it will kill your plants.

They do not have scales, they are armored cat fish... the salt will harm them, possibly kill them. They need soft water.
