It's a SCAM! Did you buy a lottery ticket? Do you still have it? No? Then there's NO WAY that you could win anything.

If you got this "notice" by e-mail, it's just SPAM from some SCAM artist probably operating out of a coffee house in Lagos, Nigeria. Some of them have resorted to sending this junk out via regular postal mail as so many internet users are wise to the scam.

Some tips that it's a SCAM:

1. You didn't buy a lottery ticket. (If you didn't buy, how can you win?)

2. The notified you by e-mail or snail mail. (You always have to claim lottery winnings yourself, they NEVER come to you!)

3. They ask for your bank details. (If you give them, they'll drain your account.)

4. They ask for advance fees to cover "taxes" or "transfer fees" or "good faith" or some such imaginary bull droppings. (When you win a legit lottery, any taxes are automatically withheld.)

5. You never heard of the lottery before. (Duh!)

6. It's run by Yahoo, Microsoft, AOL, FIFA, or some other well-known company that you don't normally associate with lotteries. (They're banking that you know the name though and will figure it's legit since it's a big name. It isn't!)

The Canadian Lottery is a scam. My aunt and uncle believed it, they lost almost $100,000. They both passed away last year, within a month of each other and we found out then about their involvement with the lottery. They were penniless with a double mortgage on their house. Bit by bit the lottery people scammed them out of their money, giving them small "prizes" to keep them believing they were on the verge of winning something big.

You probably don't even remember entering this contest, do you? If ANY organization that promises you money in exchange for bank or credit card information, it's a SCAM. Do NOT do it!
