6 1/4% of $80 = ?

You know that $80 is a 100% and you want to know what 6.25% is.
So do a simple cross multiplication
80=100
x = 6.25

Multiply 80 times 6.25 and divide it by a 100. The answer is 5.
This also can be used for any variation of the problem. All you have to do is put that X in the corresponding location.

Use a calculator

6 1/4 % is 6.25%
6.25% = .0625 (see how I moved the decimal point from 6.25%)

$80 times .0625 = $5
