the best way to protect cabinets is to have a good finish on the cabinets. 2 coat sanding sealer, and one coat finish. the varnish to use is a natural varnish. not man made product. a tape, on natural varnish will not peel.the poly's man made will. be sure to use a very fine sand paper between dryed coats. now that you will have a nice coat of varnish and using the cabinets be sure to to wipe any spills right away. you can pick gloss, semi gloss, satin, or dull. the higher the gloss the better the protection

Make sure you have a good finish on them. A good polyurethane coating will protect the wood. If spills are made, clean up promptly.

regular wear and tear is to be expected. think of them like an automobile. the better you treat them the better they look. people tearing up their cabinets and changes in style keep me busy. the stain on them should prevent much of the damage from liquids.

Seriously?.. Don't have food fights...
And wipe them down once a week and treat them with a good furniture polish once every 6 months or when they lose their shine.. Murfey's Oil Soap is great for them..
