im a sophmore, and during my freshman year, i skipped school ALOT. i was always hanging out with friends instead of going to school. so obviously .. i failed all my classes. but i learned my lesson, and now im going to school, and im doing well. so far i have had good grades in al my classes, mostly a's and b's... no c's at all... and i passed all of my midterms... i still need to make up my credits from last year, but i plan to go to summer school, and take night school in the fall to get caught up

will colleges be turned off by my freshman grades?... or if i continue to do well the remainder of high school... will they just not worry about it?

i wanna go to the university of delaware hopefully. of maybe del tech. not really sure yet.

thanks

If you keep doing well, you'll be fine.

I'm not sure about U of Delaware, but not all schools look at your freshman grades. Particularly state schools.

Plus, showing improvement looks better than having bad grades sprinkled through all 4 years of high school.

Learn, read, study, practice...and get A's... and the highest SAT or ACT score possible !!! Ignore relationships for now, you have to get back on track first for your own future!
A good idea is to get very good reference letters and don't underestimate your admissions interview. Make a good impression by being up to date on current affairs and being well-read. Be prepared to ANSWER their questions about the "bad" year of school. Be accurate but also emphasize you changes for the better and your goals.
If you get no scholarship, don't despair! Do half-time and get a small job to cover expenses. Do really good (take subjects you will do well in) and keep applying for scholarships. File a FAFSA so you can also get some grants! You will arrive at your goal IF you will not be side-tracked or discouraged on the way!

A successful person is the one who can survive and endure all hardships....! Do not feel left out or disadvantaged EVER! You do it as you can, the best you are able...even if you are slower... you will still get there....stay focused and work for it!

Good luck :o)

i think of you will could get your GPA slightly bigger to qualify for a scholarship in keeping with grades. some faculties base the quantity of scholarship money they're going to supply partly on how lots your mothers and fathers earn. Harvard, i've got faith, is loose for everybody WHO CAN GET IN and whose mothers and fathers earn decrease than $40 5, 000. There are institutions that provode scholarships too. there are varied books which you will detect in public libraries that record scholarships. you additionally can evaluate going to an affordable community college for 2 years and then transfering to a 4 3 hundred and sixty 5 days college. sturdy success.

Even though you didn't do well your freshman you still can get into a good college. Get really good grades, take some honors and AP classes. Stay in your sports and join some clubs. Study your brains out and work hard.

sure some colleges will be turned off by your grades, but your obvious turn-around should help. If your bad grades were consistent throughout, then you'd have a harder time. Did you take your tests yet? They DO matter.

Of course if you're a minority (except asian) or can show that you're oppressed in some way, you should be able to get in on a quota regardless of test scores or grades.

It's definitely possible for you to go to college!!! If you work really hard, you can definitely keep up your grades and make-up for your past mistakes. Obviously some colleges will be disappointed with your freshman grades, but you can still make it into a school.

yes it is possible for you to go to college. talk to your counselors to do anything you can to make up your work. aim to get all a's including your midterms/finals, also make sure you take lots of honors and AP classes if you want to get into those schools.

my advice is just do your best. if you aim to achieve over 100% on everything that you do, you'll have no problem. i'm not kidding.
