My youngest son, has all of his top teeth, including molars. he only has 4 on the bottom, he's 16 months old. Today he's been cranky, tired, even with his nap, and has red rosy cheeks, and loose stools, he doesnt have diareah, he's not sick, do you think he may be teething? and if so, why do these symptoms happen when the child is teething, I've heard some people say, that those are not signs of teething, but my older son always got diareah when he was teething.. What's your opinion?

doctors will tell you that there is not reson to getloose iritating stools or diarreah when a child is teething and that it doesn't happen.Anectodal evidence suggests as most mothers know that it does happen. The flushed cheeks are a good sign he is teething, you will find his gums are inflamed where the tooth is emerging.that doesnt mean it will come through today LOL oh no.....it might be another weeks or so.......I think that the diareah is caused by the excess swallowing producing more acid in the stomach........jsut my guess..........
all you can do really is wait, give him iceblocks and paracetamol for the pain and a good anti rash cream for his dot :)
good luck

Yes he is teething. the rosey cheeks come from the swollen gums and he probably has a little bit of a fever too. the loose stools come from swllowing the extra saliva in his mouth.
