What is the Gothic group of kids about?

There is a group of kids that hang out with my niece and they are called a Gothic Group.They wear dark clothes.I would like more information.I know this is a weird question.They seem to support each other but is this a safe group of people?

"Goth" is just a label. Just as "Jock", "prep" "stoner", "nerd" etc. are labels as well.

There is nothing wrong with "Goths"; in fact, they tend to be intelligent, sensitive, and deeper thinking than many other groups of teens. They feel different because of this, and so make their outsides match that different-ness.


Oh, and please don't listen to this:

Don't let your daughter associate with them, especially if they call themselves a "gothic group"... goths are basically people who can't grow up or accept reality. That is completely false.

I am a 27 year old mother of two, and I was a 'Goth' in high school. I guess I still am in some ways. I have always obtained good grades, I have always been smart, and I have always been a very nice and compassionate person.

Please notice those that erroneously make Goths out to be monsters, are in fact, the very people who are in reality, the bullies, the mean people, the judgmental people, etc.

Aww it's just a phase and it's harmless for the most part. Goths have been around for ages and not much has changed about them. At that age it's all about attitude. I know because I was into goth as a teen and drug free etc... I still dabble in it to this day. It's a lifestyle.

They'll grow up like "MOST" do and when they do, they'll be asking the same questions to another generation.

Tell your niece to stay away from the cutters, those are Emo's (Emo- emotional youth) This a the NEW sub-culture. Not cool at all.

Everybody criticizes about goth kids, me being once a goth kid. Although we wear dark clothes, it doesn't mean were bad it means we look in the most negative aspects of life, but don't get me wrong, we also enjoy the happiness, the enjoyment, and other positive aspects too. It's just a phase we go through and you shouldn't be concerned about your niece if they hang out with her, if you still not sure talk to one of them and there make your decision on that. Remember, you can't judge a book by its cover.

don't listen to these people who say goths are bad, that's just a stereotype. Maybe you should figure out who *they* are, and not just focus on what they're labled. If you do that, you'd be a bad person. Sure, some goths are bad. But some also are very smart and get good grades. It's not a bad thing if they just prefer darker colors <3333

I don't know... I never liked kids like that either. They seem pretty suspicious to me... One approached me last Halloween and I really got freaked out just by the sight of 'em. Last I saw of the one that came up to me, I saw her go back into an old abandoned barn, the lights went out, and I heard these freaky noises coming from the barn. I pretty much ran back to my buddy's house then. I wouldn't trust 'em if I were you. Try and keep your niece away from these people. But then again, that's just the Goths in my area who are scary like that. From what others are saying, maybe they aren't so bad in your area. Just be cautious and check them out, see if they're really good.
