Although less people are listening to the news now, "300 die in Baghdad bomb" is bigger news than "Baghdad builds new school". The media intentionally reports sad stories, because it grabs your attention more than any other story.
Think about this: If you were driving along the road, and you all of a sudden saw 5 people dead and 5 cars crashed together on the side of the road with tons of paramedics, firefighters, cops, and of course, blood, there's no way you wouldn't look at what was going on, it's humanly impossible. You would then tell everyone you know about it, with lots of detail.
But if you were driving along, and saw people building a school, chances are, you wouldn't think about it, or tell anyone about it unless you have a child that may be going to that new school.
It's how humans work, and it's how the media makes a profit.

It is terrible that troop deaths over the weekend end up on the second page behind some useless horse's euthenization. GB senior at least went about the invasion the right way...shock and awe. This time, we're just knocking on doors, "any muslim terrorists home? No? Okay, thanks." then get shot in the back. This has been a terribly run war, and Bush should be dethroned as Commander In Chief. We needed to devastate and then clean up/ask questions later.

Because the media has painted Iraq as a loosing proposition. All this talk about "exit strategy" all this means is loosing. They want the American people to think we can't win. Of course this thought is bogus. If the President would be less politically correct and more pointed he would send 500K troops wipe out the country and start over.

Ratio is 1 American for every 50 Iraqis...US is sending 2,000 more troops so that would be roughly 100,000 more Iraqis dead. Got to believe it. Americans are blood thirsty people.

I know what you mean. Bush isnt doing sh*t, and he really needs to get the soldiers out of Iraq, because they keep dieing, and they arent even IN a battle.

It's how you get used to something horrible. You hear about it so much that you lose the ability to care.
