Don't worry, I've had mine freeze in all sorts of situations. Most likely there's nothing wrong.

If you can't get it to eject from your computer, just shut down your computer and then unhook it. If it is still frozen try a few of the following things:

1.Toggle the Hold switch on and off

2.Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears (about 6 to 10 seconds). You may need to repeat this.

3. If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from one hand to press the Select button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Menu button.

4. If you do think it is broken and you are still under warranty, take it to an apple store (a lot of stores will replace it on the spot with a new... ...for free!)

Hope this helps.

Hey! Don't Panic :-) You can either:
1) Hold down the menu and select (the circle) at the same time for 10-15 secs.
2) Hold down Play and Select for 10-15 secs

If these don't work, leave your iPod alone for about 15 mins or unplug it from the computer.

I seem to answer this question every other day!

If you have a newer iPod, hold down menu and select for 10 secs (ensure that the hold button isn't on)

If it's an older iPod hold down Play and Select for 10 secs

This info would have been instantly available from Apple.com or google

The soft reboot method works on my little green nano, but my dad's 8 gb nano didn't respond. He had to let it run out of power overnight, then restart it.
