if one goes to a restaurant the waiter asks: Just one? (As opposed to 2), why not just 2? (as opposed to 25?)
one has to pay extra charge in hotels for being "just" one.
When one wins a prize on the radio, at the supermarket...it is always a dinner for two. Why not two dinners for one?

In restaurants, at least, waiters don't like tables of one because of the tip. You're taking up a table for two or four, but only tipping for one. Never mind that you're probably going to be an easier and faster table than a larger group.

On the other hand, who cares what the waiter thinks? He's there to wait on YOU. Sod his attitude, and his tip for that matter, if he gets on your nerves.

There's lots of single-serve meals!!! Society has never been so open to singles as it is now. Married people are now becoming the minority. I do take-out or drive through if I'm alone, never dine in. But prizes come in pairs because it's more fun to do life with someone else. Take a friend!!

They might want to attract couples rather than singles to their advertisements since restaurants are usually for dating, ect.?
