The Jam, The Clash,Stone Roses,The Smiths, Green Day, Oasis. Most people like at least one of these great bands. If there was no punk then there would not be (have been) any of these bands around. Punk rock has been very influential over the years. To the idiots on here who think that punk can be learned by anybody in 5 mins is obviously delusional. It's not just about the music, it is a statement that was very popular and has made it's mark. To the doubters who have replied to this question can I suggest that you only answer to questions when you know what you are on about.

I do love punk rock, well mostly the classic punk bands like the Stranglers, the Sex Pistols, the Ramones and similar. I also love Gogol Bordello - they are great.
I think that punk music is good because it is very passionate and alive. Lots of music is trite rehashing of the same few ideas but punk often created new themes to sing (or shout) about. A lot of punk bands were very poor musicians but still were great performers because you can tell they feel strongly about what they are playing.

Well its a bit much to completely dismiss Tchaikovski, Mozart, Beethoven, Mahler. The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley. Timmy Mallet. Bob The Builder. The Spice Girls. Roland Rat.
Its all a matter of taste dear boy. Which you are obviously sadly lacking.

It was raw, angry and full of energy. The original punks had their finger on the pulse of Britain as it was in the late 70's.It date-stamped the attitude of the era.Just listen to The Clash or the Pistols or The Jam.Those songs are timeless and just as meaningful today. That's why punk rocks!

tis a good genre, but its only your opinion to say the best.
its plays a well needed part in the development of many other types of music for sure, tho i don't believe its the best so far. keep up your opinions tho, dont change them for others unless you truely find that they are right in their beliefs. be strong, rock on
