Are there ways you can get your partner to be more fiscally responsible and stop living paycheck to paycheck ?

I don't mind buying luxuries as long as you have your neccessities taken care of. Also ... a little money saved adds to a person's security, in my opnion. Anyone have any answers ?

Nope.

You can't turn a gay man straight. You can't change a wife beater. And you can't turn a spendthrift frugal.

See a financial planner, or get him/her a personal finance book (there are some good ones out there, check yahoo finance, all of the columnists have books out there). It may help to have split bank accounts.
