Was the old theory that if the babies heartrate is around 140 bpm or below it's a boy and if it's over it's a girl turn out to be true (or false) for anyone?

It sometimes is true, but only by coincidence. This myth is false.

My baby's heartrate was 140 (had an appointment yesterday) and he's a boy. I'm 22 weeks along and the old wives' tales seem to be true. I am also carrying all in the front and had been craving sour foods. Even the Chinese gender calendar prediction was correct! Of course, I didn't bet my life on it and was secretly hoping for a girl.

My doc told me that if the baby is active the heartrate is higher, if the baby is asleep the heartrate is lower. Doesn't correlate to the sex of the baby, just the activity level at the time.

Most people will tell you it is not true at all and to wait for an ultrasound, however I have two daughters ages 7 and 8 and their heart rate was in the 160's the whole pregnancy. I am 22 weeks with my 3rd one and HER heart rate is 164 bpm. Her sex was confirmed on an ultrasound 2 weeks ago. So it was true for me.

My daughter's heartrate was always between 150-and 160, so it was true for me. My doctor told me it really had to do with how active the baby was at the time.

True for me! Baby's heartrate was 165 the first time we heard it. I don't think it was ever below 145 until she was born!

i also heard the same thing, i heard that the heatrate doesnt matter on the sex. the heart rate just means that its more active, and if your have a baby with higher heart rate then chances are the baby is more active.....

for me the wives tale was fale... my babys heart rate has been anywhere between 137 and 162... and my baby is a girl
