Well according to the media they're just copying what society is doing....but then we blame society on what we see on tv....it's the age old question of what came first...the chicken or the egg.....

Yes, I think so. A large majority of American youth and young adults (ages 12-30) seem to believe that TV is "reality". They may say they don't think that, but then why do we have so many girls literally DYING to be thin and perfect? Why is violence not only accepted, but funny? Why is it "cool" to cheat on your mate, be rich, snobby, or rude? Why is it "in" to have been arrested, get in fights, be promicuous, etc.
Girls like Paris Hilton, Lidsay Lohan, and plenty of others seem to be "role models" for alot of younger girls, and what a shame.
TV portrays "normal" behavior as violent, exceedingly stupid, moral-less, etc. And people just blindly follow suit.
I fell for it when I was younger as well. Now at 27, I'm a little older, a little wiser, and certainly more passionate about the whole idea, as I have my own kids now. I think parents really need to monitor what their children are watching and talk with them about it. Let them know, blatantly and honestly, that being rude, snobby, slutty, violent, mean etc. is NOT cool or funny. It only serves to make you look like an idiot.

Yeah, I agree. When teens and young adults see some stupid guys fighting on T.V. for no reason, then they will go and fight for no reason too. I just experienced that today. People might see rappers and stuff on T.V. rapping about how they'll kill you if you step on their shoes. So teens and young adults will see this and if someone steps on their shoes then they will think it is "cool" to just beat them up or stab them or shoot them. I remember when these two 15-year-olds got into a fight over a cell phone... One ended up shooting the other in the chest...
So basically what I'm saying is that the media promotes EXTREME vainity, intolerance, and violence. So much of today's social behavior IS based on what T.V. (the media) displays, and it is NOT a good thing.

I think so, the majority of behaviors are learned behaviors. So if this is something you see in the media portrayal all the time and do not see any other examples of different behaviors, then that is usually how a person will act.

No, I don't think so. I would think it unusually ignorant if someone thought that T.V. was the way regular people live every day.
Just think about what shows you see on T.V. None of them live like every day people. Even on the so called reality shows. They know they are being watched and they change their behavior.
Even my six year old grandson knows T.V. is not "real".
