Understand your question but it is based on incorrect information put out by the media and democrats.

As we saw during the Clinton Administration the President can use "executive orders" to by pass congress but the cases you asked about were done with the support and permission of congress.

The president cannot open your mail nor order preemptive strikes.

Did not understand "giving any country ability to attacks us unaware."

The Patriot act which is effect the RICO act extended to terrorist gives "government agencies" not the President the permission to intercept any communications believed to be used to plot against the US. Lincoln used a similar law.

The preemptive strike you mention was authorized by Congress when it gave the President the right to used armed intervention to protect the US.

Remember the President cannot make any law, propose any bill, or raise any tax. He can recommend and plea but congress and only congress has the power to do these things.

I agree with you to a point. Our US states Constitution provides for checks and balances. However, the current administration seems to think otherwise. Give it time.
