Be glad they're not psychotic, horrifically religious, and totally clueless, like mine.
My MIL has NO concept of personal privacy. She sleeps and gets dressed with her bedroom door open, and once opened our guest room bedroom door while my husband and I were totally naked and half-asleep in each other's arms. (If she'd opened that door ten minutes earlier, she would have caught us making love...!!) Luckily we had the bedclothes pulled up to our chests!
Plus, she's also a religious fundamentalist like there is no tomorrow. She's always mailing magazines and newspapers to us with pictures of crippled children on the covers and articles about how morally upright it is to hate gay people and women who don't want children. Cheerful stuff.
My (Dittohead) BIL has a personality about like getting hit in the head with a (contentious Republican) brick, and he's extremely antagonistic to everyone who had the temerity to marry one of his siblings. This is largely because he hasn't had a date in fifteen years. Go figger.
Nope, you're NOT the only one.

oh no my dear you are not the only one!! Actually I love my in-laws. For the most part all of my in-laws are great. But my husband's brother's wife is a complete psycho!! None of us can stand her!! She is so rude all the time. She treatsmy brother-in-law like dirt. She is always telling him what a dumba** he is and she never has a nice thing to say to him. Everytime we are all together and just shooting the breeze, she always finds a way to contradict anything we are talking about. She is always rude, but to our faces she is nice. She is a total hypocrit. She never likes to do anything we like to do. We always do things to gether as a family, like camping, hunting, even working together. When there is a job to be done, we do it together. She never wants to help out, anytime we go camping, she holes up in her trailer and hardly ever comes out to visit. But at the same time, if she wants to do something, and her husband doesn't want to do it, too bad! He does it or else. She does not give anything to their marriage. If he tries to discipline their son, no matter how much, she chews him out. She totally baby's their son and as a result he is a total brat when she is around. If she is not around him, he is so cute and well behaved. My son is 3 years older then hers and when he was little (before hers was born) she always had a way of saying things like "my kids will never act that way" or "I will not let my kids do that" or "when I have kids they will be this way." And let me tell you, my kids are not badly behaved. And I'm truly not bragging. I raise my children to be respectful and use their manners. Nw that she has a kid, she totally lets him do whatever he wants, but at the same time, she still tries to mother MY children and over rule my authority.
My other sister-in-law, who I love, has to work with her everyday and she hates it. She says the evil SIL is a total B**** at work to everyone all the time, and the co-workers tell my nice SIL that all the time. I feel so bad for my BIL, that he has to live with that woman. She keeps saying that she doesn't love him anymore and that she wants a divorce, but she keeps stringing him along. When they were dating, he broke it off one time and she threatened suicide. He stayed away for a few months, but then she reeled him back in with her manipulative ways, and he stayed with her. I know sometimes he regets his decisions, but he is a good man and trying his hardest to make the relationship good. No one likes divorce, but I know he would be so much happier if he dropped her on her rear. I don't think he deserves to live in misery the rest of his life just because she is such a beast.
Anyway, I'm sure there are worse in-laws than mine, but she's still pretty bad!!
