Maybe you need to also reinstall your drivers for sound?

Everytime i do a fresh install i have this problem and ispend hours trying to get it to work, well now i actually back up the drivers before i re install windows

the problem is when you format you hard ddisk the drivers go to even if your sound card is part of your motherboard, if you go to google and search for a download called firepod that will install all newdrivers for your hard disk ,comes with a bit of software but nothing big (only a few Mb), run the install and after that you should get sound

if thatfails download a program called everest that will tell you what sound card you have installed and then go to google and search for a driver for that soundcard

If you go into "Device Mangler" I would fully expect some question marks. XP cannot reasonably have every sound driver in the world. The drivers may be on your utilities disk if you have one. Otherwise you'll have to get them from driverscentral or drivershq

It actually feels like a driving force subject to me. once you look in "gadget supervisor" do you notice something there with a ? or ! next to it? if so, delete it, eliminate the cardboard out of your equipment, set up the drivers, and then placed the cardboard back in you pc once you boot it up it could set up the cardboard at once.. now and back XP could be finicky approximately setting up the drivers in the past setting up the hardware. sturdy success, Captain pc
