Well being that you did not indicate what country, I can only speak for my own Canada. If it was not for immigration, Canada would have a zero population growth. People born and raised here are not having as many children as they used to. If you consider the sheer size of Canada, we have a larger land mass then the USA and 1/10th the population, that is a lot of land to fill. Also the job market here, we are actually having to put ads out of country to get skilled workers as we are short in many areas. It has now been asked of many skilled labourers to work past retirement or not retire as early because of worker shortages. Immigration is a vital part of what keeps this country afloat.

okay, this is a difficult one, but the illegal immigrants taht are already here should be legalized. The reason I say that is because they are staying here for free...why not legalize them so we can collect taxes on them? Everyone else has to pay taxes. It would cost too much to send each one back...but I believe we definitely need to figure out a way to prevent any more illegal immigrants from coming here. I don't mind legal immigrants at all...I love to learn about other cultures, countries, etc., but it's not fair to everyone else. Not only that, we don't know the backgrounds of these people...there are many criminals coming over that definitely need to be dealt with. The ones that have a criminal history in their country should be sent back though...it's not fair that we should have to deal with them and let our tax dollars pay for them.
It's hard for me to be completely against immigration because I try to imagine myself in their position. They come to the usa for a reason...so they can escape unlivable conditions in their country, or because their government is corrupt because of dictators. This is a situation where you really have to put yourself in the other person's shoes before you judge them. I understand their desperation...my fiance and his family moved to the usa from Venezuela, legally of course, but they have told me a lot about how the dictator in venezuela is really messing things up. I live in Miami, so I hear a lot about the conditions in Cuba, and after hearing about that, it's hard for me to turn my back on that. I did a basic research on the current conditions in Cuba, and they are something I would never wish on anyone...not even my dog.
At the same time, there will be a point where the usa will reach it's maximum capacity limit and self-destruct. We have to protect that from happening to our country as well. A glass can hold only so much water before it overflows.

umm.. i find that there are more and more people getting deported now.. as a matter of fact i dont think it is lenient enough.. i feel that if they find that someone in here illegally, once they are doing something for the country and working and has no criminal history and has been here for atleast 5-10 years, then they should grant them a work permit and let them stay.. i mean there is no use sending these people back who have worked so hard to reach where they are and to build a successful family..

I believe it is indeed too lenient! We have enough problems as it
is we don't need any more to add on top of that! The mexicans
need to stay home the, they might live through another year. The canadians need to do the same again we have enough problems
we don't need to fix theirs then work on our own. If you're not American GET OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My thoughts are, if you're an immigrant, do it "by the book", and if you don't or don't plan on it, stay home. You won't like the "welcome" you'll get over here. God Bless you.
