If your case is a IV-D case (being handled by the local Child Support Office) the Office will represent you.
An attorney may be a good idea if you don't have a IV-D case. Just provide proof that you are the Custodial Parent, such as school records.
The judge would look at the facts presented to him, so make sure you have as much proof as possible.
Is this an appeal or a modification? If it is an appeal you should definitely get an attorney if you do not have a IV-D case.

The judge goes with his original decision unless proven otherwise so the court starts out on your side unless your ex can prove his case. If its full of lies then no problem because the judge will let you answer to each accusation and once the judge decides hes lying then the rest of the case wont be pretty for him. Just bring whatever evidence you have to prove your case. No real need for an atty here, just let him make a fool of himself in court and besides you can say everything the atty will say anyways and save your money. The secret in court is to appear calm and in control. Good luck

The judge has tools which enable him to ascertain the truth on earnings and such. Usually the information is like 90 days old but show's a history over time. If he's caught filing false information the penalities are severe. You should have an attorney that handled the divorce action contact that person and inform them what is taking place.

Lies or not if your don't get a lawyer you might not get any child support. And he will decide with what your ex and his lawyer will tell him. And you need to be there and ready when they do.

Does your ex have a lawyer? If so, you need one. A common saying is "he who is his own attorney has a fool for a client" You will get your chance to contest his claims. A judge isn't going to make a snapp decision just on his word alone.

Start writing everything down that goes on between you. What it was, when, and where. And yes, if it is full of lies, then get a lawyer. Protect yourself.

If you know it's all lies, is there anybody who will stand up for you? Is there any way that he can prove it's true? Is there a way you can prove it isn't true? If he's saying you're unfit because of your house or what ever. Take some past to present photo's that we're taken inside of your house. That way you can show that the house is usually kept.

First- get a job so you don't have to rely on your ex to pay for your manicures and clothing.
Second- the law is on your side- women get free legal aid when it comes to child support.....men have to hire their own.
I guess get a lawyer- there must have been some good points that your ex made or the judge wouldn't have approved it.
