If you are connected directly to your DSL modem, it might use PPPoE service. But must DSL modems now log in for you, and will give you a direct connection. If you need a PPPoE account and password, check your DSL service account.
If you are using a Router, this whole thing becomes simple. I recommend a LinkSys Router.

PPPoE stands for Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet... Odds are you won't get it. But you should be able to set it to automatic and connect it to your router that is connected to your Cable/DSL modem and should be just fine.

you need to call up your service provider to know the kind of service you have-static ip or PPPoE.if you have the static ip service then you don't need a PPPoE account name but most residential service have PPPoE service.the account name is the primary email address associated w/ the dsl account.

I think that someone set something on there or someone broke it. I would have soemone check it out myne did that but i got it fixed.
