Your WEP key is in the routers home page. Open internet explorer and type in the address bar the routers IP address. If you don't know it, then click START > RUN and type cmd in the run command window. At the dos command prompt (balck screen) type ipconfig and press ENTER. The IP address of router will be shown.
Go back to explorer and type the IP addy in the address bar (delete current url first!)
Then browse router home page until you find wep key (probably under security).

If you are going Wireless and want to connect to a Wireless Network that uses WEP, then YES, you need it. Check one of the computers that is connected to that router, and see if the Wireless network is UNSECURE. If it is, then you do not need the WEP code. ASK they guy that set up the router to see if he knows the code, or access the Router setup page from that other computer to see what it is.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

It is not advised due to the lower security wep provides over wpa, if you do decide to use wep then ensure you use.the longest key available to your devices and be mindful of the data you transmit when connected wirelessly. For slightly better security you could hide.your ssid and use mac filtering although bear in mind that these are "security through obscurity" and provide very little actual security.

on your router( the little box with the antana thing) turn it over and it will have a website like http://whatever the numbers are go to that site and look around there for password or wep key.
