Cameron Dokey's "Beauty Sleep", "Golden", "The Story Teller's Daughter". "Midnight Pearls" or "The Scarlet Moon" by Debbie Vigue.
"A Great and Terrible Beauty" and "Rebel Angels" By Libba Bray. Tamora Pierces Circle Quartets. You should try some different re-tellings of King Arthurs time. I can't remember the authors but theres a few such as "I Am Morgan Lee Fay", and "I am Mordered" also "Sword of the Rightful King".
I reacently read a fabulous book that's a modern day retelling of the fairy tale Snow White and Red Rose called "The Shadow of the Bear" by Regina Doman. The sequel "Black As Night" a retelling of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was also great. I'll include the link to that site below.
Another good book is "The Goose Girl"

Master and Commander by Patrick O'brian. Historical novel about the British navy during the Napoleonic wars. It's the first of a series of 21 novels -- the last is unfinished due to the author's death. Patrick O'brian was a profound naval historian as well as a masterful novelist. The characters in the book are fictional but the battles and naval actions are all based on historical documentation. If you like really good literature this is it. These are arguably the best historical novels ever written.

I'd like to recommend these 100 books as listed in the web site below, please visit it and look for some familiar authors to read then find more as another step of your reading adventure. However, some of my favorite ones do not include there, for example:
1. The Cairo Trilogy by Naguib Mahfouz
2. A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth
3. Burmese Days by George Orwell
4. The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark
5. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, etc.
Good luck.

It depends on what you like, if you like Sci-Fi or Fantasy, try the Harry Potter books, or the Dune books. If you like romance, stick to the older ones, they are awesome, Pride and Prejudce, Gone with the Wind, etc. Issac Asimov books are found in every section of the library (under the Dewey Deciaml system anyway) and he is truly a joy to read. What horror books you will like depend on how you like your horror (psychological, gory, spooky) but Stephen King can usually spark someone's interest.
Hope some of these help give you a place to start (none of them are intended to be read in a single sitting, you will need a little time for most of them).

One of the best books I've read is Where The Heart Is, by Billie Letts.

It's about a young woman who was secretly living at Walmart. How cool would that be? It's warm, sweet and funny. It was featured in Oprah's Book Club and made into a movie, (which I loved), but the book is much more detailed. They should have it at your local library, or find it here:

Enjoy!

Anything Richard Paul Evans writes is great. If you are into something that is funny, try Janet Evanovich's series with the main character being Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter who always seems to get her cars blown up. Her sometimes helper is Lula, a former 'ho. Stephanie has a grandma that loves to go to viewings at a funeral home, and funny things always happen. I believe there are 12 books in the series, and one is funnier than the other.

If you like mystery and suspense, on the edge of your seat, cannot stop turning the pages type books, then ANYTHING by James Patterson. Two in particular that are sequel's are; "Maximum Ride - An Angel Experiment" and the next one is "School's Out - Forever" These two were awesome. I was up quite late, could not stop reading.
