That's a very interesting question....never actually looked at it before. It's one of those eye tricks where you see what your looking at but look past it. Make sense?? And yes, PI number sounds cooler!!

Yep you are so correct. I guess many people didn't understand plain old PIN so someone started adding the extra prompt number - but it does spoil it.

being a pretentious git, i say pin, not pin number.
but then again I hate to end sentences in prepositions and get really wound up with bad punctuation ans split infinitives

Same thing as ATM Machine. When the M already stands for machine. It drives me nuts when people say that. Just stick with ATM.
