I have a nickel about 1/4 the size of a regular nickel. I'm just curious if its limited edition or anything. I have no idea where I got it from. I've had it for years. It says 1978 on it. That's about as much info as I have.

Yes, I'm sure it isn't a dime. haha. It's a replica of a nickel except small. It's the only one I've ever seen.

You have a novelty item. There are miniatures of all our coins, both modern and even some older ones, such as the Indian head cent out there. They have been around at least since the 1960's. With yours dated 1978 it is probably from the late 1970's. They are for sale in novelty catalogs as well as some times in coin magazines. They are not rare or limited editions.

I remember seeing a Candid Camera where one of the pranks was to have a store give out miniature coins out as change and guage the reactions- it was pretty funny. At the end of the show they offered these miniature coins to the public for purchase.
I am sure , as the answerers abouve ahve stated, they were produced for other purposes. Unless there is something especially unique about them, I doubt they are worth much but as a novelty item, someone that collects miniatures or someone that might be interested in them for a dollhouse would be able to tell oyu what they would pay for such an item.

I agree with the previous answer. It's a novelty item. I used to have a bunch of coins like that, you can get them from a hobby store in the miniatures section.

Take a pic of it and submit it on-line to have it appraised, they'll be able to tell you what it's worth if anything. The people on here might not know, so finding the right place on-line is everything.
