im going to be disecting a pig in biology in a wile....i dont think im squiemish ....but i just have never done that before ....any tips ?

it's not that bad once you get over the smell of the formaldehyde. just look at it as a learning experience. mother nature is amazing the body is just so interesting. take as much out of this experience as you can

Be prepared to smell the formaldehyde, it may seem a bit strong at first, so step away from the pig to get some fresh air. When you are cutting with the scalpel, don't put it in too far deep that you cut up a kidey or something. Also, there might be some "juices" left in the stomache and intestines, so be careful when cutting those up.

I thought it was freakin' AMAZING! There is no worries of really "messing" up. I mean, they are going to throw the pig out anyways so what's the worst that can happen?
In my class, teacher let us dissect the brain but only if we got through everything else so don't fool around. Get your work down because the brain is the coolest part. xD

My A&P Instructor provides a menthol rub (vapo rub) to put under our noses if the smell is too much for us. You may have a runny nose, but it's better than getting sick over the smell. The smell wasn't that bad for me, but I have a strong stomach.

Don't think of it as a pig. think of it as a 3D textbook. And yes the smell is nasty, bring noseplugs.

I did this when I was younger.The smell is the worse thing to deal with.The rest is not so bad.

we did that when it was hot and sweaty and there is no ac in my school so it stunk but it is not as squeemish as you think. it was hard for me as a vegetarian but if you eat meat its just like bologna...
