Most sources will say if you havent gotten it by 16 you should get it checked out, because the passage could be blocked or you might need a pill to jump start your hormones.

No! Nothing is wrong with you! I was having feelings that something was wrong with me too and that I'd have to go to a doctor or something. All my friends had gotten it when they were like, 12 and 13. I was 14 and was gonna turn 15 in a few months. I'm 15 now and actually just got my period about 5 months ago, at disney world, totally embarrassing!! But don't worry about it for now. If you turn 16 and still haven't got it, at your next doctors appt. tell him cause they'll tell you if there's something wrong or not.

Hi there, I don't think you have to worry about it at the moment. If you're athletic/sporty or haven't yet finished developing or have an eating disorders, reports say that it usual to come later like 16 or even as late as 20. If you think you have a problem though please talk to a professional about it or a close friend or your Mum or your friends mum. Find out when your Mum go hers as sometimes that can shadow yours. Sudden changes to your lifestyle can also affect you (living with a whole bunch of guys), as it does to girls that actually do have their periods too. Hope everything goes alright for you and always be prepared just encase.

Sorry.....not a female, but thought I could help? (have 2 daughters of my own)

The average age to get your period is 12 1/2, but some girls get their periods as early as 9, while others don't start until they are 16. If you're 16 and you still haven't started menstruating, that's the time to go see a gynecologist, who will be able to tell you what's going on. But if you're under 16 and you still haven't gotten your period, keep in mind that it's not the biggest deal. There are plenty of other indicators--like your sense of responsibility and your attitudes toward friends, family, and larger social issues--that prove you're growing up.

Women begin their menestruation at all different ages. Some are as young as 9, others don't start until they are 16 and in rare cases, even older. So don't be upset. Sometimes it's really hard when everyone else has already started their periods, and they're talking about it, and you really don't know what to say because you haven't started yet, but trust me, there's nothing wrong with you. You're just on a different timetable than they are.

you shouldn't be embarrassed to ask that kind of question. whoever gives you a stupid answer, then they are just immature. but its totally natural if you don't have your period yet. a lot of girls don't get their period until they're like 16. i got my period when i was 10; I'm 15 now. but i know a lot of girls who don't have their periods yet and their the same age as me.but trust me, you would want to wait till later because having your period is not the best thing that could happen to a girl(they get really painful sometimes). but just be patient, my friend.

This is not uncommon for a girl to not have had a period yet at the age of 15. But if you havn't got it by the time you're 17 you should probaly go to Gyno. to see if there is anything that would help

sorry a guy here.. but a biologist Relax some people develop late. Bear in mind that periods controlled by hormones. If your stressed this could affect the timing. It also depends on what kind of sexual mindset you posess. if you normally seculde yourself from sexual thoughts and behaviour then you may find that affects its too. The best thing to do is to see your doctor. they will be able to do further tests for any possible underlying issues.

I didnt get my period until the spring of my freshman year in high school. And all my friends at the time had already gotten theirs. Im pretty sure theres nothing wrong with you, you would be what they call a "late bloomer". If its really bugging you, talk to an adult (of the female kind obviously), or the school nurse or something.

Previous posters are right, if you haven't had it by 16, then go to the doctor for a checkup.

Assuming you are developing otherwise, and have no health issues.

I've heard of girls starting as young as 6. Be glad it's not the otherway around.
