For several months now, i've been having my period every other month, i'll skip a whole month, but i'll still have my period on the 22 at the end of the month when i do have my period. How do I know when i'm ovulating? I've been told that you ovulate half way between your period, so would that mean that I ovulate when i'm suppose to be having my period? Or still the 14 days after my period. This month, if we go by ovulating every 14 days, i had sex with my partner and a few days later too. So would there be a chance that i'm pregnant now?

Ovulation occurs approximately 14 days prior to your menstrual period, depending on your specific body. You can monitor your body for when it is going to ovulate by taking your temperature first thing in the morning (even before you turn on the light, sit up, or go to the bathroom). There is a book that explains it in more detail called "Take Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. Go to www.tcoyf.com for more information. It's not unheard of for women to have a long cycle, but there's usually a root cause that you should identify now so you can get it fixed. I suggest an appointment with your OB/GYN or RE (reproductive endocrinologist - fertility specialist who specifically deals with hormone issues of fertility) to start working on your period issues. :) Good luck!

If you are TTC then save some time and money in the long run and go buy a CLear Blue Easy Fertility monitor. My husband and I tried the taking my temp every morning and all sorts of stuff (including my doctor). But once I started using that I knew when I was ovulating, and that info also helped my doctor. I then passed the monitor on to my sister in law and it helped them (her doctor too) to know better how to help her. She now has a four month old and I have a six month old and another older child. Best of luck. It is expensive , but if you are serious and do not want to waste time! It is amazing. By the way my cycle has NEVER been normal!

You need to see your ob/gyn for help with this. I was having similiar problems for unknown reasons, and they had to give me hormones to regulate me. They may also take some blood tests to see if there is a condition causing this, such as hypothyroidism. Being overweight and/or stressed could also be culprits, but there are lots of other causes. Please get it checked out, for your health and well-being. Also...you can get pregnant at any time. There are no 100% safe days.

This is kinda confusing to me. I think you need to talk to a doctor. An irregular period is not normal.
