RE:
hardwood floor nailer?

2015-08-18 10:57:20 · answer #3 · answered by Graehme 1 · 0 0

We just finished adding hardwood to about 600sq ft in our home and we rented the nailer and borrowed the air compressor from a friend. We could rent the nailer for $30 a day or rent for a week at $120- so we rented it for a week. I think the cost to rent the nailer and the compressor was about $75 a day.
We were novices at laying the wood floor and it took us about a week to finish. We finished up the week before Christmas.Hope this helps.
***Make sure you let the wood acclamate to your home for atleast 72 hours before laying.
****Make sure you buy at least 4 extra boxes as we ended up having lots of bowed or discolored boards.

An alternative to renting might be considered if you plan on using it over several days or weeks. If you found the type you wanted on ebay, and could buy it for $300 plus $30 shipping, and then plan to sell it when you're done. If you got $300 for it then, your 'round trip' usage would cost the $30 shipping plus maybe $5. for the ad insertion, and about $10 for the sales closing fee. That's about $45 out of pocket. You should buy one that is seen to be in active demand so you can feel comfortable about the subsequent sale.

I have one to sell you, but it would be cheaper to rent one, unless you are going into the flooring business, in which case give me a call. I'm getting out.

Where ever you got the flooring they should have a gun to rent. They normally charge by the day plus the nails, Good Luck.
