Its an eneregy saving campaign being promoted by the utility companies. They are "energy-efficient", and so the green theme is probably just to catch attention. I saw it on my Georgia Power utility bill. lol Here is some info on it:

I once pondered the same question, I asked my neighbor why he has a green porch light, he told me he had many reasons:
1. Holidays & Winter (Long winters, I live in Alaska)
2. When family or friends come over its easy to find his house, look for the green light
3. Something besides white
4. Of all the colors he has tried, it stands out the most where other colors disnt provide enough glow/light or were to bright/boring
5. When family or friends come over its easy to find his house, look for the green light
6. Being dark all the time, the green isnt as invasive as a white light can be (i imagine some of has to so with the brightness reflecting off the ice and snow)
7. His kids love it

This guy had a ton of reasons of why he had a green light, hes one of those neighbors that never shuts up, hes nice and all, but bla bla bla bla....hehehehehe

Never heard of a green light except on a traffic light. Yellow light bulb outside keeps the bugs down. They aren't attracted to it like a regular light bulb. Which is a really great thing if you live in MS cause we got way too many bugs here.

Maybe they are irish. Or perhaps the colour green doesn't attract so many insects. Maybe they just like the colour. I know some companies use blue lights in their public toilets, so that junkies can't find a vein.

I've never heard of that (or even seen it.) Maybe there was just a sale on green light bulbs somewhere...
