Why is it when someone has the sense to put a question that is different from some of the repetitive trash that seems to dominate the LGBT forum they have to put up with answers that actually ask - 'why is this question put on an LGBT forum?' or words to that effect. Is it really asking too much for the LGBT forum to be about more than most of the superficial nonsense that seems to dominate?

To clarify - I know this is the LGBT Section! The question is asking - if for example, someone asks a question that may not have anything specifically to do with sex, coming out, homophobia or trying to be insulting, but still they are asking a question that basically allows the LGBT section to be more than just about the stereotype, why should this be a problem?

Because the LGBT board should be about LGBT issues. If you've got a question about footie, music or tech toys you ask there. What's the point in creating a gay ghetto? Excluding yourself from society is counter-productive. We're more than just our sexuality!

If the question does not having anything to do with LGBT issues, the asker should be empowered enough to ask it in the right category, no matter what their sexual orientation is.

So if you have a question about your cat, it really belongs in Animals; Algebra = Math, etc. etc.

I'm not that strongly opposed except when I see a question that is blatently meant for another category - like a tween girl asking, "What is the best feature in 13-year-old boys?" or "How do I ask a guy out?"

Nicely put. I was wondering about this myself. I can see why digressing may lead to changing the whole topic over time, but there's so much more to LGBT folks than their sexual preference!

Hobbies, pets, family, jobs.....all with their own opinions on "straight" topics.

Thanks for asking!

I'd suggest you go to the flag and check out the reasons for reporting a question. You'll see a list there of objectionable reasons for a violation.

I don’t mind what anyone asks, as long as it’s not “should gays be allowed to adopt” or “do you think being gay is a choice”. If I had £1 for every time someone asked those bloody questions I’d be rich.

Hey Wagster, if the sports section is about sports why diversify and ask questions about toliet bowl cleaner? Get the picture?
