I've never heard of any of those songs but I think songs like... "Your Song" by Elton John , "I just called to say I love you" by Stevie Wonder, "Broken Wings" by Mr.Mister, "Lady" by Styx, "When Doves Cry" by Prince.

When Doves Cry and Broken Wings are probably the most touching, though.

im with you on elliot smith.
needle in the hay just makes me sit still and listen and think. twilight is one of the saddest songs i can think of. pitseleh, biggest lie also. i love elliot smith.

colorblind by counting crowes is super sad.
