Topics/Thesis statments on American Literature?

I need a topic I can write about dealing with American Literature...from then, I can develop 3 thesis statements...Any suggestions? Please help!

This is a broad based subject. I think you need to narrow down the scope to something that interests you or look at American Literature as a broad based protrait of American society itself. Does American Literature represent the cultural diversity that our fore fathers envisioned? Is American Literature biased based on culture and or creed? How has American Literature shaped our views of our fellow Americans and the country itself?

Well there are lots of themes in American Literature. So this is a very broad question. But you can talk about identity, that comes up a lot in American Literature. Poverty. The pursuit of the American Dream. Race. Gender. How American Literature has evolved over time. You can talk about foreign policy and war. It all depends on what aspect of American Literature your paper is trying to explore. How American Literature incorporates African American Literature, Asian American Literature, Hispanic American Literature and more. Or you can compare American Literature to some other type of literature, lets say British. Hope that helps!
