I experienced the same situation even though I was in Malaysia. So guess this does not apply to geographic locations only. However pple in Thailand patiently waited at the sides for the passengers on the train to alight before boarding.

They probably don't know how to behave any other way. but the same question applys to people in any country, city, state and county. there are rude barbaric and selfish people everywhere, but not everyone (in singapore) is rude barbaric and selfish.
so when you can help it, surround yourself with the nice friendly and couteous people, and your life may be happier :D
