the clicking doesn't come form the starter but from a black thing that is beside the battery. The battery is hooked to this black thing and there are other wires connected to it as well. I have wacked the started with a hammer but i don;t thing that that's the problem.

i have this problem with my mustang i foudn out that my battery was low. charged the battery and it worked fine.

Check the fluid level in your battery. If it is below the plates you need to fill it with distilled water. If that was the problem it will probably start. If not it may be corroded battery connections. Remove the battery cables and scrape them with a pen knife (both inside the cable connection and the outside of the battery post) Smear them with petroleum jelly and reconnect them. They have battery post cleaners that they sell at auto parts stores that make the job a lot easier and they also have felt washers for the post's that keep them from corroding as bad... Good Luck...

Make sure your battery is fully charged to start with. If it is check the single wire to the solenoid( that is the black box) and make sure it is not corroded or loose, if not you likely have a bad starter. My neighbor just had the same problem, his was the battery though.

Turn any light one, and turn the ignition key. If the light dims significantly - it's the battery problem, if not - starter

you can have your starter tested at your local auto zone for free, But as others have stated I think it is either your battery or connections.

Ground wires are a crucial part pertaining to polarity.

yes probably the battery, turn on the headlights, do they look very bright? or are they a bit dim
