I have to write a report on a persuasive letter. The letter includes words such as "promising" and "phenominal" I understand that these words are emotive, but I am having trouble describing what emotive words actually do to the text.

I think they help you experience what you are trying to say. "Shockingly powerful" secrets are so much more expressive than "big" secrets, etc.

Emotive words are Marked by or displaying emotion. uses, argues,promising phenomenal. I think this is what you want.
