A couple of suggestions. first of all, dont try so hard. i remember one time in high school i was in class and i looked across the classroom at an underclassman who i had never even met & all of the sudden knew she was bi. found out later i was right. secondly, i know it sounds bad, but using some of the gay stereotypes can help. most of the gay guys i know are bitchy, loud, talk effeminately, and are well groomed. but the problem could be that u want him to be gay (been there). just trust your instincts but know that u may be too close to the situation to access it properly. if u have another trusted friend who knew u were gay before u told them (or if they seem to be able to pick out gay guys just by lookin), ask them if they think hes gay. hope this helps & good luck!

There is no gaydar. That's a story that's told like The Tooth fairy. If you really want to sound him out sometime when you're alone talk about sex and see what he says.
