I have never had a girlfriend before. There were many girls I was interested in, but I was often too afraid to tell them. When I did muster up the guts to ask one of them, I was always rejected. This made me more self conscious and timid. I am getting very frustrated with myself and discouraged. I see some guys who are jerks but always have a girlfriend. But I know I'm not like them and DON'T WANT TO BE like them. There has to be a balance somewhere between being timid and being arrogant.

well, boy, i think the right balance is being who you really are.

you never had a girlfriend before because you are not being your true self. when you're being timid, you are hiding your feelings from that girl. you are not being true to her.

a girl rejects you after you told her you like her. this is because of four things.

one, she had been waiting for so long that she had been tired and decided to dump you if you confess.

two, you had asked her so abruptly that she was not prepared to answer you 'yes'.

three, you had been friends for too long and she decided to stay with that.

and four, she liked somebody else...ouch...

this is a fact about girls and the only way to get them hooked is to show your real self. be true to your heart, man. in that way you will gain confidence because you shall know yourself better. at the same time you are not being arrogant because you were just discovering yourself.

may God bless your search...

bieng confident is a must if you want to have a happy life but, we also need to realize that we are ALL human, we ALL have flaws.. noone is better than me and I am no better than anyone else. If we could all be comfortable in our own skin and allow others to do the same. maybe, just maybe, we might have a more peacefull world. Noone has the right to be arrogant. NOONE

There is...being humble. People who can get themselves to the level of self-confidence without becoming a different person are humble. They remember where they came from.

Check out some self-help books from the library--they'll get you started on your way to confidence.

First, you need to be YOU!

Don't worry about it too much - you *should* tell a girl when you like her, but don't wait too long or be too troubled by it if they turn you down. (Try and stay friends, that's a good way to get 'referral' girlfriends!)

Hang in there and keep at it!

Best of luck!

every person, to remain aware of his importance, should have a dog that looks up to him and a cat that looks down at him
