She needs to take a bath, and ware panties. Stockings are of nylon, and they will hold an odor, and make you itch also. Menopause does not make you funky. She could have other odors that are brouht on by medications, and alcohol abuse. If she lives with you and your mother than you two will have to sit her down and explain to her that she will have to bath and keep her privates clean. When she sits down on the furniture, and she leaks between her legs it will get into the furniture. You two may have to put her in the shower and bath her. Buy her some boby baths and gels, she may get excited about the new products, and want to use them on a regular basis. Work with her. Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Good Luck.

My mom is in her 60's and she doesn't have a problem taking care of herself, and going through menopause doesn't have anything to do with taking care of yourself and keeping yourself clean, if she is healthy and not sick or anything, then she is just lazy. and if she is able to take a bath on her own and doesn't need help then tell her to take a bath, and use undies and not stockings, but if she needs help then try and help her.

She may be afraid of falling in the tub, as someone above said. She may also be unaware of the fact that she smells so strongly. As we get older, our olefactory nerves don't work as well as they used to, so she may not even smell her own odor. She needs to be made aware of the problem, but approach her tactfully.

Your mom should probably have a talk with her about her odor. Maybe she's scared to take a shower if no ones in the house in case she falls. Your mom can offer to be there with her.

have you guys Elderly proofed her bathroom?
She may need help bathing and is too embarrassed to ask. Observe her, she may be getting to that time in her life when things aren't as easy as they once were.
