It makes you feel good for a while, until it wears off. Of course it helps you feel good and helps you forget your problems, BUT its only temporary. Your problems are still there after the alcohol and drugs wear off. Thats why people become addicted, its their escape. Personally, face the problem in reality and it will go away or you will be able to deal with it better, no matter how hard it is.

I don't do drugs but alcohol seems to alternately intensify and then numb whatever emotion you're feeling. Do you ever notice that when someone gets drunk they get so mad they want to fight (usually over something stupid and silly) and then 10 min later they forgot all about it and fall asleep. See, intense and then numb. There u go.

both. when you're in it, like an addiction, you feel the quick rushes, but afterwards you feel guilty. it's a bad cycle
