Good question, what should the Celtics do. Personally, I don't think it's really right for a team to intentionally lose games to get a good lottery pick. But we have to look at the effects of losing games would do. Here's my analysis:

If the Celtics do try to lose games, there are some cons to it. Many of the current players would get into the habit of losing and not really develop that sense of winning and playing your hardest. Not only that, the organization would lose a lot of their fans and also profit from games.

The pros is that they could get some good college players from this year's upcoming draft. And it's expected to be a deep draft of a lot of good players. They could possibly even land up with some high picks to get Greg Oden.

My opinion is to just try your hardest no matter what. Hopefully their young talent can develop and they could have a better next season.

No. For one thing, this will be a good draft. Greg Oden isn't the only apple that's gonna fall from the tree. And for another, they already tried that once, to get Tim Duncan. They ended up with, I believe, Raef LaFraentz.

With the lottery system they are not guaranteed to get the first pick in the draft.
