It really depends on the size of the files you're trying to back up. Unfortunately, the number of files youre trying to back up says nothing of the total space it will take to store them. The size of your video and music files depends on the length of the song or video and the type of compression used. But flash drives are cheap (if you shop wisely) so I would reccomend grabbing the largest one you can find (I've seen some with capacities up to 8 gigabytes) and lower capacity ones (1-2 gigabytes) are easily obtained for under $40 (I reccomend Fry's electronics)

Flash Drives, hhmm... The Biggest USB Flash/Thumb Drive i've seen is merely 1GB, however, there are cheap mp3 players that run up to 4 GB. Why not try those?

You can put all those files in one folder and then right click on the folder, choose Properties, and you will see the Size on disk in the window. Otherwise it's impossible to tell because it all depends on the size of the files you mentioned.

try this site www.worldstart.com..i jsut received a news letter from them and they explain how to transfer all files & etc..so you can add vista, but go to microsoft and find out how to transfer big files to make room for vista, but i would make sure you have enough room for vista first . i would get at least a 2gig flash drive's or use dvd's /cd's
