Hi, for about a week, i got msmgr trogan 2 out of no where. I havent been using the net, or anything involved with the net around the past month, but somehow, i have obtained it. In order to delete this virus, i tried the free trial version of norton 2007 full version, but it has yielded no result as my AVG virus detector continuasly reports the occurance of msmgr trojan 2. I need help deleting this virus as soon as possible, as i do not wish to loss any precious date. Also, during the last 2 days, when i listen to music with my Media player 11 to a specific music, my computer freezes and goes to a blue screen, warning and asking me if this is the first time that had occurred. Also, at the bottom, it states msmgr something something something. After my third attempt at listening to music, i decided to quit, and i ran a virus scan over all my music it case it was corrupted, and i found that they were not corrupt. Help me found a solution to rid of the trojan2, and msmgr, please.

This is not a virus but spyware which is totally different. It will have come embedded in a download at some time. You need a really good anti-spyware program. I had a similar problem last year and I know how to fix it. Get CounterSpy, it won't cost you the earth ($20) but it will clean out all your spyware and won't let any more in.

Write down the exact error messages you see, then go to :

http://vil.nai.com/vil/default.aspx

and do the research. This will help you define what you have a little better.

In general, to stay safe do the following:

get a good AV product: Norton or McAfee ( $39.95 - 69.95)
get Spybot S&D v1.4 (free)
get Adaware Se from Lavasoft (free)
get ZoneAlarm Basic from ZoneLabs (firewall)

Update them all weekly, run them all weekly and visit the Windows Update site weekly and apply the patches.

To see how vulnerable your machine is, visit www.grc.com and runs ShieldsUP! to see what your machine looks like to an attacker.

A computer is not a toaster oven. You need to practice good IT system maintenance and see to it that you have as much protection as possible between you and the bad guys.

Also, if you get an e-mail with an attachment and don't know the sender - do yourself a favor - delete it no matter how tempting it may be.
