Of course. Names associated with one gender may make their way to the other, and back. Look at all those British boys' names that sound like girls' names to American audiences.
It does break some of the non-binding rules about girls names. Vana -- ending in 'a' -- would be a more traditional form. Other possibilities include Vangella, Vanella, Vanessa, Vanetta ... Vaughn, which is sometimes a girl's name, usually a boy's name ... you are free to make your own, new traditions.

a girl can have any name but it must commonly known as a boy's name if its just van....
but it can also be short for Vanessa so sure!!!
