What is the name of this book?

I remember that a girl was going to visit her mom with her grandma and grandpa and shes like native american or something and then her grandma dies from a snake bite i think. SHe finds out her mom is actually dead in the end.

The book is called "Walk Two Moons" by Sharon Creech. Published in 1994, it won the Newbery Medal the following year.

it's called Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech. It won the Newbery medel I think and Absolutely Normal Chaos is like the sequel.
