They are similar to clips that hold electrical wire looms down to the chassis. They look like carrots. They dig into holes that are made into doors.

If you're thinking of shaving it off, good luck. You would need to weld a plate to cover that spot. Bondo wouldn't work in this situation.

I painted my car in October and wanted to do this, but it was too much work. So I just shaved everything else but the moldings.

They are held on by "V" clips. These work by inserting them into the hold and they then spread out of the other side.

To get the door moldings off without damaging the clips you will have to remove the inner door cover. I would recommend buying a Haynes manual from Advance Auto or like store. This way you can see where all the screws are located.

Also when removing the door cover becareful not to "yank" the cover off when you are ready to remove as there are "Christmas Tree" clips on the inside that hold the cover in place. If you break them they are easy to replace and cheap to buy.

Once the cover is off raise the window and you should be able to see all the clips. Probably be about 5-6 of them. You can use a set of Needle Nose Pliers or Channel Locks to squeeze the "V" clip together and push them back through the holes. Once all clips are pushed through the hole you can easily take the molding off.

I hope this answers your question the way you wanted. Good luck, this very easy to do.
