When we purchased our home 3 years ago we completely over hauled our kitchen. We installed Kraft-Maid Maple cabinets and a corian type counter. The walls in our kitchen are all poured concrete so I'm sure our cost for installing them was a little high. In total we paid $15,000. This includes 11 upper cabinets, 1 storage/broom closet, 8 bottom cabinets, 6 drawers, 1 sink, and an Island with silverware drawer, cabinet, bread box, and 3 drawers.

Corian is nice, but it costs about triple the amount a formica countertop will cost. If you don't have money to burn, go with the formica. Just use trivets for hot pots and use a cutting board instead of the countertop when chopping veggies.
Get several estimates from contractors before settling on one. Also ask around for recommendations from friends, co-workers, and the like. You may be able to do a lot of the work yourself if you don't need electrical or plumbing work done.
My husband and I redid our kitchen ourselves and we saved a lot of money. It looked great when we finished too. The only thing we had professional help with was installing the new floor tiles.

properly, to save funds, you may attempt doing both the shelves and counter tops. imagine about refacing shelves and doing the countertop. Get the loose estimates contractors or perhaps your community residing house Depot supply out. this can be a lot more low priced than gutting your kitchen and reworking it.
